Zhou Lab Officially Launches!
We are excited to announce the official launch of the Zhou Lab within the Department of Neurology and the Center for Motor Neuron Disease at the University of Chicago.
The Zhou Lab investigates somatic genomics in the nervous system, with a particular focus on understanding how somatic mutations arise, accumulate, and contribute to brain aging and neurodegenerative disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. By integrating single-cell genomics, ultra-deep sequencing, long-read technologies, and advanced computational approaches, we aim to uncover how rare genetic alterations within small populations of cells may shape aging, focal vulnerability, and disease onset.
We are currently establishing our research infrastructure and actively recruiting highly motivated postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, research assistants, and collaborators who are passionate about neuroscience, genomics, and mechanisms of disease.
If you are excited about decoding somatic mutations in the brain and redefining the genetic architecture of neurological disorders, we would be delighted to hear from you.
